FAQ's:
Q - What is a Silent Party Auction?
A - A silent party auction is an online auction, where teachers have submitted parties for their classrooms. This year, the winner will be able to invite a set number of friends (usually 3 + themselves) to participate in the party. Unlike last year, these parties will not take place during class. This opens up the ability to bid on parties for your favorite teachers, not just your current teachers. All parties will take place outside of instructional time, per district policy. Also new this year, we have lots of items which were donated by our community!
Q - Why can't I pick what date my student receives the party?
A - Based on testing schedules, end of year learning, and activities, we feel it's best to have the teacher be the one to set and approve the best date for their party. All parties will take place outside of instructional time per district policy.
Q - Are there items which aren't parties?
A - Yes, there are PTA spirit wear auction items, local business packages, services, food gift cards, front row tickets for 8th grade graduation, and so much more.
Q - What if I just want to donate to Haggard PTA?
A - In the Givebutter site, you can donate funds directly to Haggard PTA.
Q - I'm a local business and want to get in on the action. Can I donate to the auction?
A - Yes, you can! Simply email Christina Ambers at waysandmeans@haggardpta.org.
Q - How much does Haggard PTA Pay to host the auction on Givebutter?
A - For full transparency, running an auction does cost Haggard PTA a small percentage through Givebutter. A transaction fee of 2.9% or $.30 per online payment donation will be charged in addition to any PayPal transaction fees. Givebutter does offer a 0% platform fee if we enable optional donor tips. Otherwise, a 3% platform fee would be applied. We have opted to enable donor tips (which you can decline). In addition, most parties will have small up front costs for the food or supplies which PTA will cover through auction proceeds and donors.
Q - I won an item for the '26-'27 school year. How will people get in touch with me over the summer?
A - Great news - this year we have decided to not have prizes that you'll use in the '26-'27 school year. This would be difficult for us to remember over the summer with the move to the new building.
